Sai: My Dream Job
When I got out of my graduate program, it took me 10 months, 35 interviews, 731 cold calls, and over 800 job applications to land my dream job. I didn’t settle for anything less than what I really want for myself. Persistence, creativity, humility and a little bit of luck paid off in the end. I am definitely going to get this venture up and running. I have done it before and I will do it again.

Malik: Results!
I have accomplished everything that I said I wanted…told my family I would lose weight and I did! Told myself at the beginning of the summer I wanted to work for Banana Republic…I’m now employed there! However there is one thing that remains untouched. Got a new goal set in mind!! DETERMINATION + PERSISTENCE = RESULTS!
Debbie: Blessed
“Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”
These words from Steve Jobs’s commencement speech at Stanford University touched my heart deeply. I feel lucky knowing that I have found someone with whom I can share my dreams, hopes and fears with. Someone whom I care for deeply. The relationship just gets better and better with time. I feel blessed.
Debbie: A Theatrical Sensation…
We danced to a romantic tune on our first encounter… Our rendezvous point was set to take place at “Vu” at the Hyatt Hotel. Upon arrival, I whispered to the hostess in my singsong melody that things were unfolding in a flight of fancy… I had just embarked on a new career, and now was waiting for someone special. She sat me by a magnificent view of the water where the gleaming city skyline peacefully rested against the panorama of my eyes…It was like a classy cruise ship was about to set sail in a river of dreams. In my reverie of romance, our waiter prefaced two sparkling champagnes with a gentle “Congratulations on your new job.” I turned around, wondering surreptitiously, “Where is he?”, thinking how winsome it was that he would send this gift as an appetizer to prepare me for his dark and handsome presence. However, he was nowhere to be seen. How titillating it was to think that the sparkling champagne was a gift without expectations, created by my way of being. Shortly thereafter, he arrived, and my heart skipped a beat. He asked me intriguing questions about my character. We enjoyed a scrumptious gnocchi dish and a delicate crab cake of mango nuances. We spoke of our passions and fears, feminine grace and masculine power, straight from the crevices of our hearts. His hand lingered and I looked away with the slightest of smiles. Eventually, slowly but surely, I found myself being cast into a captivating spell.
Lorraine – Serendipity!
Good morning! I think some serendipity is in order since today is 10/11/12! (Or maybe I should just get my APARTMENT in order!! Lol!) Fun, busy day ahead, and then: Carmen at the Met!! “Who’s happier than me?” (Wink, wink)
Philip: Your Own Journey
You create your own journey.
We are all solely responsible for the movie playing out in our lives. If we don’t like the movie, it’s time to change it! No matter what we have dealt with in the past, it is all changeable …right now!
Take inventory today on what you like about your movie and what you don’t like. What are the top five things in your life you appreciate, and what are the top five you’d love to just get rid of? Write them down.
Being able to pinpoint what it is you’re out to change about your life is half the battle in making that transformation.
Jacob: A Big Shift
I feel it all around me, a big shift in peoples consciousness: some more than others, and either way its a wonderful thing. So many of my friends and acquaintances talking about such similar things when it comes to spirituality, health, nutrition, universal truths, taking care of the planet and our bodies, and all kinds of other things that make for delicious intelligent conversation!
Debbie: Celebration!
What a heart-stirring, charming, capricious, stunning afternoon and evening! To be continued…
Lisa: My Heart Soars…
My heart soars when someone tells me that they found a way to empower themselves, love themselves, and connect to their heart. The look of someone who has come to truly accept and love themselves is a sight to behold. I am filled with gratitude to have the opportunity to be a witness to moments like these. Life is beautiful! – Lisa Natalie Johnson
Debbie: Halloween Peradventure!
Peradventure = Chance. What an amazing day! After an awesome meeting with a few associates, I decided to explore the neighborhood of Hoboken – the city of the quaint. After a few Peeping Tom moments sprinkled with some awe and wonderment, I ended up at the Halloween Store, and boy, was it crazy in there! So many things were slashed down to $19.99 or less, cut from $49.99, $59.99, and $69.99! In fact, one lady said she sold a $300 costume for $30 the other day! SUPERDEAL! I ended up getting him a vampire cape. Then we decided to re-explore the place for possibilities, since this sale is just beyond comprehension. We decided that these costumes don’t have to be just for Halloween – they can be for any random day! Days where we choose to role play, or Friday night dates – why put a limit on the possibilities?? After that, the moments felt like we were on speed. We raided the store, aisle by aisle, for size smalls, looking for things he thought looked good. I simply surrendered to his preferences, and when we were done, I ran for the mirror up front by the cash register, where I tried all ten costumes on in a wild act of frenzy! Here he is, looking all excited.
We got to spend quality time together, and I loved every minute of it. We got 7 costumes total, 6 for me, 1 for him. We totally juiced the place! Total price? $100 for 7 name brand costumes! His pick of a velvet blue China doll was my favorite – mini mildly magnificent!
Afterwards, we hung out at Sleepy’s for 45 minutes. What an amazing evening of adventure, by peradventure (chance)!
