Liz’s Vision

I’ve noticed that sometimes I let my vision take a back seat to my day to day life.  Gotta get the kids up for school, gotta get to work, ride the subway, make the dinner, do the homework, get the kids to bed before too late, still have time to spend with my husband.  Do some laundry, make phone calls I may or may not want to make, keep in touch with my sisters and father and friends, catch up on work.

I barely have time for me, much less my dreams.

Yet I am driven, somehow, not to lose sight of them.  I think of them late at night after I am up too late answering emails, or in the shower, or waiting on a subway platform.  I picture myself doing certain things… leading abundance and prosperity workshops with hundreds of people in them, being at my country home for the summer, traveling with my family, singing on a stage with a guitar in my hands (yes, I sing, no, I don’t play the guitar.)  They call me forward, make me understand I’m alive, and challenge me.  I feel optimistic about them… I know they are possible, even though sometimes they feel so far away from me.

Some people say… having a clear vision comes first, then the strategy of how to accomplish that vision comes next.  You can have a to-do list a mile long, but without a vision to give it structure and importance, at the end of the day you’ll just have a bunch of to-do’s done, and you won’t be any closer to what you want.  Start with the “important, not urgent” items first.  And you’ll decide which items are in that quadrant based on what your vision is.

For me, starting with the important, not urgent items can be a challenge.  Life will pull me in many directions and distract me from that noble quest.  But the vision is still there.  The optimism remains.  I make a conscious effort to stay on track with my important, but not urgent tasks.  And slowly but surely the results show.  My workshops are getting bigger and more numerous.  My country house is there, awaiting me as summer approaches.   I spend the afternoon with my children, laughing.

I pulled a card from my “Power Thought Cards” deck written by Louise Hay.  It said: “My future is glorious.  I now live in limitless love, light and joy.  All is well in my world.”  I was reminded – my vision, my future, is decided upon based on how I live NOW.  As I choose to live in love, light, and joy NOW, all is well in my world.
